Important Update: Our Desoto.Net Dialup Number is changing!

This only affects those of you who use Desoto.Net's dialup internet service in Arcadia (not DSL). If you do, please read the following!

Our dialup number in Arcadia is changing from 494-3003 to 266-0038. You can make this change immediately, but you must do it at the latest by Monday, August 16th, 2010. After that, the old dialup number will stop working. You must also make sure your dialup username has the @desoto.net at the end of it (i.e. joe@desoto.net). To make this change please follow the instructions below, or if you need help, call us at 494-7692 or 888-638-6373.

For All Windows Computers: (MacIntosh users, refer to the Setup page for your version)

  • Click Start / Control Panel (or Start / Settings / Control Panel).
  • Double click Internet Options (if you don't see this, click Network and Internet Options and then click Internet Options).
  • Click the Connections tab at the top.
  • In the white box below Dialup and Virtual Private Network Settings locate your connection to Desoto.Net. It may be the only connection listed, but if not, it will probably show the Desoto.Net name and may have the word Default next to it. Double click this connection. The setting page for the connection will appear.
  • Near the bottom locate your username and click the Properties button to the right of the username.
  • Change your telephone number here by replacing the old 494-3003 dialup number with 266-0038. Remember, you don't need the area code since it's a local call. Click OK.
  • On this screen, locate your username at the bottom. Add @desoto.net to it (if it doesn't have this). For instance, joe@desoto.net. Then remove the saved password in the field below and re-enter your normal dialup password (we do this because Windows often removes your saved password when you change anything in the dialup settings).
  • Click OK to close each of the dialog boxes you have opened and save the settings. If you have any problems, call us at 494-7692 or 888-638-6373!

The new number should provide better connections for you modem. You can make this change anytime between now and August 16th, but please do it as quickly as possible so if you have trouble we can assist you.

Note: If you are using our Hyperspeed accelerator, the Hyperspeed username will not change - you would still use it without the "@desoto.net" - just change the dialup username!
